St. Francis
The contrarian that I am, while it possible that most Christians will be fasting, etc. during Lent, I will be shifting my focus to festival. I mean, what with Christians (and, of course, others) killing each other in Ukraine (and elsewhere), festival might be more effective for prompting change and transformation than fasting... How about a festival of nations? Or a festival of disarmament? Or a festival of social and economic justice? Or a festival of black farmers? Seriously: Why not something unexpected and different? Is there anything more important than a general conversion to a festival of nonviolence? Don't our children deserve this grand possibility?
