The Burn of Love's Hand
a little boy looks
through the eyes of a white beard
-- time merges and fades
undress my poems,
scatter them about the room
-- drink deep my heart life
bewilder me, Love,
chase me like the forest wind
-- shadow play and glance
afternoon thunder
and a numbing depression
-- so heavy, these beads
imagine: my mouth
clamped tightly to Your left breast
-- what would You do next?
the burn of Love's hand,
endless quest and consequence
-- living, yet I die
breathing the mountain,
each step, closer to the Heart
-- "this that" such Beauty!
slowly the mind breaks,
descending into the heart
-- clinging to the Name
God comes: no mercy
left and right, the shattering
-- a potshard of self
offering my heart:
how far can one go in Love?
-- She whispers, "No end"
hide and seek gaming,
Holy One! I am so tired
-- why not just kiss me?
blankets over me
curled in a gut wrenching groan
-- where to look for Light?
heaved ashore by Night
alone, as the ticking clock
-- why still this needing?
this moment is Yours,
Love is the one in my breath
touch my tongue with Yours
walking the green hills
distant voices, distant thoughts
-- approaching One Sound
just sit, nothing do.
breathing mountains and rivers
-- the delight of God
nightfall at monk's pond
when prayer cups the cosmos
-- Paradise opens
am I so crazy,
wanting to mirror Your Love?
-- draw from me my breath!
intently silent,
I hear the pain of this world
-- the mountain dogwood
lonely and afraid,
I yearn for You in the night
-- my heart in the Fire
like a bird of prey
You tear my heart from my chest
-- Your talons, my Love!
paradise scent, and
these beads, like caressing God
-- daybreak in Love's ooze
how You feed the earth
with such delectable love
-- hurry and kiss me!
by means of expanse,
all things converge into Light
-- and Flame frees the fire
an old man returns,
from the hills, to the market
-- all beings to love
through the eyes of a white beard
-- time merges and fades
undress my poems,
scatter them about the room
-- drink deep my heart life
bewilder me, Love,
chase me like the forest wind
-- shadow play and glance
