The Mother
"Divine Mother of Radiant Delight! I surrender my breath into Your breath... I adore the One behind and within the many... I offer the sacred gift of my imagination that it might lead us all to Paradise... I intend to live intimate in love with life and my companions... I invoke Your remembrance in my heart and with every breath... I will to activate my heart and life to compassion, service, justice, and harmlessness in thought, word, and deed... In every moment, in all things, and with every breath I offer to You all the roses of my heart..."
Before the beginning: The "What if? before the Big Bang", considered infinite possibilities... This Divine Consideration gave birth to the rEvolution of Being which has resulted in US! From out of the Womb of Love all of creation has sprung, from star seed to life seed... "The beginning of the universe is the mother of all things..." (Tao Te Ching). "I am the womb and the eternal seed..." (The Bhagavad Gita).
Yeshua the Poet of Nazareth has revealed the Holy One as none other, and as "Other" than that which the "principalities and powers" of this world would have us believe, while the "dominator paradigm" has brought us to the very precipice of planetary disaster. The sacred identity of Yeshua as "suffering servant" and "poet" has been effectively discarded by every dominator-rooted theology. Likewise, the sacred covenant of the Divine with Woman -- apex of the evolutionary ladder -- has been shredded by thousands of years of the very same dominator-model in religions, relationships, communities, cultures, economics, and politics. Still, the Love Call of Yeshua and the Divine Feminine can be heard on the margins of our lives, on the other side of the tracks, deserts, and borders that separate "us" from "them"... and "religion" from "Her"... Reading the Gospels with the fresh eyes of One Love opens another and deeper dimension of revelation: the sacred Presence of Mother Mary and the Bride-Companion of Yeshua, Mary Magdalene, hover as mystic guides into the Divine Feminine...
Francis, the Ragged-Man of Assisi, sang of Earth as Mother and of leper as sister and brother. Turning the powers of his time on their collective head, he went about the world as a herald of love and peace and the Fraternity of the Creatures -- never quite fitting into any of the accepted patterns of spiritual leadership, and thereby pointing out once again, the Way... and just a few thousand miles away, Islamic sufism birthed the one who would be remembered as "Rumi", the greatest of all the world's mystic poets. Rumi continues as the mystic herald of Love: One Love is at the same time time our Source, our Lover, and our True Self...
Yeshua, Francis, and Rumi, along with other spiritual leaders and philosophical thinkers such as Ram Dass, Rev. Ellen Grace O'Brian, Dr. Rianne Eisler, Dr. Michael Beckwith, Margaret Starbird, and Andrew Harvey continue to inform a desperate planet how to become transformed into Love, the Divine Feminine "suchness" of God... This transformation is the Great Secret and Purpose of the 21st century! The Radiant Mother is the Eternal Affirmation that all the pain and suffering of everyone, and of all who have ever lived (and this precious blue Planet) will be finally transfigured into the perfect beauty of One Love... and this unfolding will be as simple as that of the rose before the rising sun, in silence, humility, and gentleness...
"Everything is in the Mother, everything is the Mother and the Mother is beyond everything, constantly drawing everything deeper and deeper into the fire of her always transforming love. She is at once the ground, the energy and the always changing and flowering goal of evolution, the spider that spins the great cosmic web and lives in it, the web itself and the dark luminous womb and void out of which both spider and web are constantly being born." (Andrew Harvey)
"True divinity is female, and Mecca is the womb of the Earth."
(Ibn 'al-'Arabi)
Anandamayi Ma
In Autobiography of a Yogi (Published by the Self Realization Fellowship), Paramahansa Yogananda wrote: "Her gentle face was burnished with the ineffable joy that had given her the name of Blissful Mother... A red dot of sandalwood paste on her forehead symbloized the spiritual eye, ever open within her..." In his book Be Love Now, Ram Dass writes: "My feelings in her presence were profound, subtle, and hard to put into words. There was a tangible peace, a sense of completion and perfection, a deep relief from the thoughts and daily concerns that constantly press on the mind... She opened the way for you to feel God... Anandamayi Ma's feminine qualities weren't just those of an individual woman. She was truly an incarnation of the divine Feminine, the Goddess..."
Alexander Lipski wrote a beautiful biography of Ma entitled, "The Essential Sri Anandamayi Ma: Life and Teachings of a 20th Century Indian Saint". Included are many, many stunning photographs, as well as a significant section of her own words. In addition to this valuable resource, many videos are available for viewing on YouTube!
