Thirsty! What Do You Thirst For?

Thirsty! What are you thirsty for? Everyone thirsts... the healthy newborn is quickly ready for momma's milk and struggles from her belly to a waiting nipple... as youth departs and age settles in, "thirst" tends toward a certain transformation: when time is no longer an ally, "meaning" assumes primary importance... sometimes this basic human thirst occurs earlier in some lives: poets, artists, musicians, activists, contemplatives, and lovers of wild places tend towards this kind of thirst earlier than most... but eventually, just about everyone has to stop their hectic "production" and wonder what will happen when their breath ceases... if there is such a thing as "soul" and consciousness beyond the body...

Every human being is a "soul enfleshed"... a mirror of the One Love... so the metaphysical thirst is for the slow, steady, polishing of the mirror: "grace" could be likened to the polishing cloth -- except that this cloth is also an active agent of imagination, inspiration and motivation inviting one into an intense personal "communion"... Grace opens channels within the heart and the consciousness -- always going deeper -- into the "mystic": the direct experience of Mystery and Wonder and Bliss and Beauty: into a pure reflective Radiance without which life has only just begun... Grace calls through awareness of others' suffering as one's own... Grace liberates through awakening into solidarity and service for every person, being, or thing that somehow hurts or is abused and marginalized... Grace gives birth to the Holy One within the heart of the awakened Lover -- who in turn, gives birth to the One in the world of the many... This drink is the satisfaction of the gift of life! This drink is the fulfillment of the Holy One's creative impulse! This drink re-purposes the Universe itself into the never-ending Mystery of One Love!

Thirst... thirst... and thirst somemore my friends! For this drink is your destiny!
